About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant at this specialist SEMH hub, your role will be pivotal in supporting children's social, emotional, and academic development. You will work alongside a team of dedicated professionals to provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages positive behaviour, learning, and emotional wellbeing.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing individual and small group support to pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2
- Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning plans to help pupils achieve their full potential
- Supporting pupils in managing their emotional and behavioural challenges
- Promoting positive social interactions and encouraging the development of social skills
- Collaborating with teachers and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for each pupil
- Supporting with daily routines and helping pupils build confidence and independence
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has experience working with children with SEMH, either in a school or similar environment (or a strong desire to learn)
- Is empathetic, patient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with children
- Has a calm and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviours
- Can work effectively as part of a team, whilst also showing initiative when required
- Has an understanding of child development and the challenges faced by children with SEMH needs
- A relevant qualification in education or a similar field is desirable, but not essential
