Test Lead - Automation - Stoke - Hybrid - £55,000 - £65,000
The Role
A leader in digital transformation for the Government sectors, are on the lookout for an experienced Test Lead with a passion for automation and the freedom to shape testing processes from the ground up.
This role offers a high level of autonomy-you'll take ownership of designing and implementing the automation strategy across multiple secure cloud-based platforms and services. Working closely with technical leads, developers, and stakeholders, you'll define best practices and select the most appropriate tools and frameworks to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient test coverage.
You'll lead by example, helping to build a future-proof QA function while still being hands-on in your testing approach. There will be the opportunity to innovate many business-critical environments, determining which tools with take the staff and company forward.
Role Requirements
- Minimum 7 years' experience in QA/testing roles, including 2+ years in a Test Lead or Senior Automation role
- Strong background in building or scaling automation frameworks from scratch
- Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools
- Knowledge of API testing (e.g., Postman, RestAssured)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to get SC Clearance
Desirables
- ISTQB certification or similar
- Exposure to cloud services (AWS, Azure)
- Scripting or development experience in Python, JavaScript, or C#
- Current SC Clearance

Hybrid working is offered, with 2-3 days a week based in their Stoke office (depending on project needs).
Salary & Benefits:
- £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience
- 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) rising to 30 with years of service
