Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, along with experience in meal preparation and kitchen operations within a care home setting.

As a Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dishes that meet our standards for taste and presentation, while ensuring a clean and organised kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and menu specifications.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in the planning of menus, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and client preferences.
  • Maintain an organised kitchen workspace, ensuring all utensils, equipment, and ingredients are readily available.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, informing management when reordering is necessary.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service during peak hours.
  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Help train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Cook in a care home or similar setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends as required.
  • A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals that delight residents.
