Key Responsibilities - Primary Teacher
As a Primary Teacher, your main responsibility will be to provide high-quality, engaging, and differentiated lessons to students in your class. Your key duties will include:
- Delivering Core Curriculum - Planning and delivering lessons across core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, ensuring they are engaging and accessible to all learners
- Differentiated Instruction - Adapting teaching materials and lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students, particularly those with SEND, SEMH, ASD, and ADHD
- Behaviour Management and Emotional Support - Implementing positive reinforcement and restorative approaches, helping students manage their emotions and develop social skills
- Supporting Social and Emotional Development - Encouraging resilience, self-regulation, and emotional growth within the classroom
- Safeguarding and Welfare - Ensuring students' safety, well-being, and that their needs are met in line with safeguarding policies
- Collaborating with SENCOs and Support Staff - Working with the SENCO and other teaching assistants to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Passionate about supporting children's learning and development, particularly those with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Understanding of child development, behaviour management, and trauma-informed practices (training provided)
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive, with a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges in the classroom
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different teaching methods and strategies to best support students' individual needs
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS Certificate
A Typical Day as a Primary Teacher
Your day will start with planning and reviewing lessons based on student needs. You will be responsible for delivering lessons across the curriculum while ensuring they are inclusive for all students, particularly those with additional needs. Throughout the day, you will use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students and support their social, emotional, and academic development. You will regularly assess student progress, provide feedback, and collaborate with other teachers and support staff to create the best learning environment possible. Your day will conclude with reviewing the day's activities and planning for the next steps in students' educational development.
