Principal Systems and Compliance Engineer - Stoke-on-Trent - Permanent

This is a unique opportunity which offers compliance/type approval, hands-on machine driving and software development. Ideal background would include braking/suspension/driveline systems knowledge but also experience in certification and working with type-approval agencies.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead working meetings with design engineers and suppliers to develop machine subsystems, interpreting legislations effectively.
  • Engage in Risk Assessments and FMEA as necessary during the system definition phase.
  • Develop subsystems conceptually through system specification documents, and have the opportunity to develop prototype control systems using industry-leading tools.
  • Drive practical machine testing and parameter tuning, collaborating with software and development engineers to refine machine controls.
  • Take on a compliance role responsible for External DVPSOR, acting as a key point of contact internally for engineers seeking advice and assistance.
  • Coordinate internal engineers to complete necessary testing and verify their evidence reports, liaising with type approval agencies for whole machine approvals.

What You Will Bring:

  • A degree in Engineering, showcasing your foundational knowledge and expertise.
  • Specific experience in braking, steering, and suspension systems, underpinned by a solid engineering understanding and practical development experience.
  • Proficiency in using Vector Tools, Mathworks tool, and dSpace prototyping hardware, demonstrating your ability to work with cutting-edge technology.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of acting as a liaison with sales & marketing teams, dealers, and type approval agencies.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in a team.
