Academics are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a charming, single-form entry primary school seeking a dedicated Year 1/2 class teacher to cover maternity leave. This is a full-time supply position starting in December and continuing through to the end of the summer term.

This small school setting offers a close-knit, supportive environment, with a team that values collaboration and inclusion. The Year 1/2 class consists of 25 pupils, some of whom have special educational needs (SEN). A part-time teaching assistant (TA) will provide additional support, allowing the successful candidate to effectively meet the varying needs of the students.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced primary teacher, or an ambitious early-career teacher, to take on a full class teacher role within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum for Key Stage 1 (KS1).
  • Differentiate learning materials and approaches to cater to the diverse needs within the class, particularly students with SEN.
  • Assess, track, and report on student's progress, ensuring that all students are supported to reach their full potential.
  • Work closely with the part-time TA to provide individualised support and ensure inclusive classroom practices.
  • Engage with parents and carers through consultations and regular progress updates.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in wider school activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, with strong knowledge of the national curriculum.
  • A compassionate and adaptable approach to supporting children with SEN.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with a proven ability to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
