Role: English Literature Teacher - Stoke-on-Trent
As an English Literature Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that foster a love of reading and critical thinking. You will guide students through the exploration of classic and contemporary texts, helping them develop their literary analysis skills while encouraging a deeper understanding of the world around them. You will have the opportunity to teach across various key stages and make a lasting impact on student's personal and academic development.
The ideal candidate for the English Literature Teacher role will have a strong background in literature, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to motivating students to embrace the beauty of storytelling and critical analysis.
Key Responsibilities of the English Literature Teacher:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in English Literature to students at various levels.
- Develop and implement creative and thought-provoking teaching materials for English Literature students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Encourage a love of reading and literature in students, helping them analyse and interpret texts.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum planning for English Literature.
- Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver cross-curricular activities related to English Literature.
- Encourage students to engage with extracurricular activities, such as book clubs or literary competitions.
- Maintain high standards of classroom management, ensuring students are motivated and engaged in their English Literature studies.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of English Literature, with the ability to teach a range of texts and authors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for literature and a commitment to student success.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience teaching English Literature in secondary education is desirable but not essential.
