Role - Residential Care Worker (Full Time)

Location: Stoke on Trent

A fantastic opportunity to be involved in the provision of responsive care and support, to children and young people who have complex emotional and social needs using a parenting approach to ensure children and young people are safe, well and cared for.

You will be working in a small childrens home, looking after up to 3 children and young people at a time.

About you:

  • Understand the complexities of mental health, trauma, substance misuse, and offending behaviour.
  • Reflect on emotional responses and demonstrate empathy and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Promote rights, responsibilities, and informed choices.
  • Adapt to changing needs with flexibility and resilience.
  • Familiarity with data management, and Microsoft Office.
  • Committed to working with vulnerable children, young people, and families, with strong negotiation and advocacy skills.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21+ and pass a DBS check due to safeguarding responsibilities
  • Hold a drivers license with access to own vehicle
  • Willingness to work towards Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent, if not already completed
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and their families.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with children and young people based on respect and openness

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 24/7 care, addressing the physical, emotional, and social needs of children and young people.
  • Build positive relationships, support during emergencies, and maintain a safe, clean living environment.
  • Draft, update, and follow care plans, administer medication, and ensure access to healthcare.
  • Arrange and attend appointments, transport children, and encourage community involvement.
  • Liaise with families, professionals, and agencies, advocating for the childrens needs.

Management:

  • Attend supervision meetings and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Collaborate with professionals to maintain safety and quality care.
  • Oversee medication management and report any safety concerns.

Partnership and Administration:

  • Prepare for meetings, maintain effective relationships, and keep accurate records.
  • Adhere to company policies, maintain confidentiality, and support cross-functional teamwork

General Responsibilities:
