Academics is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to work in various local primary schools across. As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with a variety of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning disabilities, in classroom and small group settings.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to implement education plans and adapt learning materials to meet each child's unique needs.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and other daily tasks as required by the students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to achieve their potential.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SEN coordinators.
  • Promote social and emotional development, helping students build confidence and positive relationships with their peers.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly within an SEN setting, is essential.
  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Understanding of SEN best practices and strategies for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a caring attitude.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different school environments.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
