Job Overview:

Commodity Manager - Stoke-on-Trent

Due to our continued growth and recent high-profile contract wins, we are expanding our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Commodity Manager to take charge of the entire strategy for procuring their respective commodities. Your responsibilities will include supplier selection, negotiations, terms and conditions, sourcing decisions, competitiveness, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and quality-compliant delivery of requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to create a highly capable and cost-effective supply base.
  • Provide leadership and direction to commodity management teams and other areas of supply chain management.
  • Operate at a management level with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop an effective global commodity team.
  • Deliver cost-effective solutions for our cargo sites.

In this role, you will define and own the capability, strategy, and operational excellence of your assigned commodities. You will spearhead key innovation sourcing activities, promote risk-aware sustainable procurement, enhance the capability of the procurement teams, and champion the procurement function both internally and externally.

You will be a trusted advisor in shaping the future of procurement and work closely with stakeholders to deliver best-in-class products.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MCIPS / APICS membership, equivalent, or qualified by experience
  • Experience in procurement and supply chain management processes, including quality management, financial analysis, and contract negotiations
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain preferred
  • Commodities purchasing experience in IT, electrical/electronic control & automation, mechanical, and fabrication
  • Operations experience in procurement/materials/inventory management is a plus
  • Proven track record in achieving cost reductions in purchased parts and services
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP software
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and supply market dynamics
  • Familiarity with ISO quality assurance methods
