MOT Tester/Light Goods Vehicle Technician - Stoke on Trent

Rate: 18p/h

Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:00 (37 hours, Early finish on Friday's)

Immediate Start

Repair, maintenance and servicing to the Council's operational fleet of vehicles, plant, trailers and equipment in accordance with Council policies and procedures, legislative requirements, manufacturers standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the full range of repair, maintenance and servicing
  • To prepare and carry out MOT testing on class 4, 5 and 7 vehicles and suitability testing on Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Taxis
  • The post works mainly within the workshops, however there may be some work at the roadside in response to breakdowns. The role is subject to physical effort in a working environment that can have disagreeable conditions.
  • Carry out repairs including fault finding and diagnostic testing to all vehicle, plant, trailers, equipment, electrics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Carry out vehicle safety inspections in accordance with the Council/DVSA/MOT Standards and Guidelines, to complete all relevant documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • To attend to vehicles, plant and equipment breakdowns, and effect roadside repairs or recovery to the Transport Workshops or Repair Agents, as directed by a supervisor or Manager.

Requirements:

  • Experienced MOT Tester with a NVQ level 3
  • DVSA Certificate in Class 4,5, and 7
