We are looking for a skilled Company Accountant to lead our finance team and support our business goals.
Main Job Purpose
As our Finance lead, you must be prepared to roll up your sleeves to get the job done in a variety of diverse business-related functions. Youll oversee all core financial functions, from monthly and year-end accounts to audit preparation and compliance. Youll be responsible for payroll, treasury, and tax functions while also acting as Company Secretary. Reporting to the Managing Director, youll contribute to strategic decisions and manage a direct report handling imports, purchase ledger, and credit control.
What Youll Be Doing
Financial & Management Accounting
Prepare and present monthly management accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations
Oversee month-end closure, general ledger entries, and submit group reporting packages
Prepare annual budgets, monitor performance against targets, and support the Head of Sales with sales forecasts
Year-End, Audit & Compliance
Lead year-end accounts preparation under FRS102 and audit planning, liaising with external auditors and parent company
Manage VAT returns, tax documentation, and transfer pricing in collaboration with tax advisors
Oversee customs declarations and ensure regulatory compliance
Payroll, Treasury & HR Support
Process payroll and bonus calculations, manage pensions, and support the MD in salary reviews
Manage treasury operations, including online banking and currency monitoring
Maintain expense policies, manage holiday/sickness records, and provide HR procedure input as required
Additional Responsibilities
Prepare sales and margin reports, manage credit card/expense claims, and quarterly WEEE submissions
Liaise with utilities, insurance providers, and oversee commercial agreements
Act as Company Secretary, update Companies House documentation, and support strategic business projects
Person Specification
To succeed in this role, youll be a proactive and highly organised finance professional with a strategic mindset and attention to detail. Youll be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and bring a hands-on approach to support our growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience
Previous audit experience is preferred
Background in financial accounting within an industry setting is advantageous
Technical Skills:
Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP

High level of integrity, with the ability to instil trust and confidence across all levels of the business
Adaptable and comfortable in a hands-on, dynamic work environment where a variety of business functions may require your support

Confident managing and developing direct reports, ensuring effective financial processes
