A reputable law firm in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a dedicated COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice) or Compliance Manager to join our team on a part-time basis.About the Role As the COLP/Compliance Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the firm adheres to all regulatory and legal obligations. You will oversee compliance processes, manage risk, and promote a culture of ethical best practices throughout the firm.Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the firm’s designated COLP, maintaining compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct audits, risk assessments, and internal training sessions to ensure all team members understand their compliance obligations.
  • Monitor changes in relevant regulations and ensure timely updates to policies.
  • Manage client due diligence and anti-money laundering (AML) compliance processes.
  • Handle regulatory reporting and liaise with external regulatory bodies as required.
About You
  • Proven experience in a compliance role within a legal or regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML requirements, and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience as a COLP is highly desirable but not essential.
