Our client is currently recruiting for a permanent Electronic Assembler to join them in Stone, Staffordshire. The ideal candidate will have strong hand and eye coordination, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Job Purpose:

The assembly testing and inspection of a variety of equipment products such as hot plate stirrers, water stills, PCR, heater, rocker and mixer units. All built to conform to CE/EMC standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To assemble, test and inspect the ceramic and metal-topped hot plate/hot plate stirrer range including sealing of ceramic tile and usage of portable appliance tester (P.A.T.), plus usage of test rigs, checking RPM, amps and voltage.
  • To record all job data in log book and sign off finished products conforming to CE/EMC standards on final inspection sheet. To follow standard SOP with high quality a must.
  • To assemble and test a variety of intermediate sub-assemblies required to complete water stills, rotary evaporators, water baths etc, including PCBs, wiring harnesses, electronic assemblies, hose kits, assorted metal work, switches, caps, plugs etc. 
  • To set and operate automatic wire stripping/cutting machine, including setting wire feed and cutters and to control for length and quantity.  Also to set and operate manual stripper/cutter for heavy duty 2 and 3 core wires. To inspect wires and crimps as required.   
  • To assemble and test larger equipment items such as industrial units and ovens, comprising metal work parts, panels, insulation pads, baffles and assorted electrical components.
  • Tools used in the assembly and testing processes include hand and pneumatic crimpers, cutters, soldering irons, files, screwdrivers, pliers etc, with information supplied from drawings, assembly manuals, build samples and job cards.
  • To assemble a variety of miscellaneous metal work pieces in a light engineering environment including finger discs and clip plates for rotators, shaker platforms etc, using drills, saws, files etc.
  • To be responsible for housekeeping in immediate work area, understanding of 5s.

Skills and Abilities required:

  • No formal qualifications required however hand and eye co-ordination required during all assembly, testing and inspection work especially intricate wiring and soldering processes and whilst assembling small components.
  • Any qualification in electronics would be advantageous i.e. HNC/ONC, it is critical that you are a team player with great communication skills.

Hours of Work:

  • 7am – 3.30pm Monday to Thursday, 7am – 1pm Friday
