Financial Controller role for a leading education provider, overseeing its financial operations, ensuring robust financial management and guiding financial planning. The position involves budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting and will play a key role in supporting the college's strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial reporting
  • Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports
  • Leading the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads as a Business Partner
  • Monitoring and report on budget performance, providing insights and recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.
  • Preparation of cashflow forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making
  • Coordinating and overseeing annual audits and liaising with external auditors
  • Ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of statutory VAT returns.
  • Providing financial analysis and support for strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Managing and developing the finance team, providing leadership, training, and support to ensure high performance.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.

Candidate background

We are looking for a qualified accountant with proven experience in the areas above. Someone with strong financial acumen and analytical skills, a strategic thinker with strong people management skills. You will possess excellent communication skills, be able to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and have a high level of proficiency with IT, in particular Excel.
