My client, a world leader in the design and manufacture of skid-mounted rotary compressors, serves the oil/gas, chemical/petrochemical, and energy/power generation industries. They are looking for a talented Proposal Engineer to join their team. Responsibilities:

  • Quotation Development: Provide timely, accurate quotations for compressor packages through interpretation of application requirements.
  • Customer Interaction: Handle technical and commercial queries while delivering high-quality service to global customers.
  • Technical Analysis: Read and interpret customers’ enquiries, including data sheets, project specifications, P&IDs, and terms and conditions.
  • Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials and systems such as flow control, sealing systems, lube oil systems, cooling, and instrumentation for new compressors and compressor packages.
  • Advisory Role: Advise customers on materials and systems according to their specific needs.
  • Engineering Calculations: Perform calculations to size equipment such as compressors, motors, auxiliary systems, and components.
  • Supplier Coordination: Write RFQs for suppliers and estimate costs to calculate selling prices.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare proposal documents and supporting materials for bids.
  • Record Management: Maintain accurate records of opportunities and bids in the company’s CRM system.
  • Customer Engagement: Attend meetings with customers to discuss technical requirements and project details.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.  An honours degree is preferred.
  • Skills: Highly numerate with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of rotating machinery (pumps, compressors, mechanical seals) and fluid-handling equipment (piping, valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, measuring instruments).
  • Experience: Some experience in the engineering sector is preferred, though recent graduates will be considered.
  • Commercial Awareness:  Basic understanding of sales and marketing techniques is advantageous.
  • Software Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Project.
  • Personal Attributes: A self-motivated team player with a proactive attitude.

Package:

  • Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
  • Work Hours: 36.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday - 08:30 to 17:00, Friday - 08:30 to 13:00).
  • Bonuses: Generous annual bonus scheme.
