Lean Engineer

Permanent - Full-time -Stonehouse-Salary up to £45,000 DOE

My client, a leading global, automotive manufacturer, are looking for a Lean Engineer to play a vital role in a multi-functional and agile team to help improve efficiency and performance of the production processes.

The Role:

  • Lead value stream mapping to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Analyse production processes using Lean tools (e.g., Gemba walks, 5S, and cycle time analysis) to recommend changes.
  • Redesign and refine processes to improve material flow and meet customer demands faster.
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency.
  • Train and coach teams on Lean principles and tools, fostering a culture of improvement.
  • Support Kaizen events and ensure Lean practices are embedded across the production line.
  • Ensure quality standards are upheld and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Manage projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and performance goals are met.

 

The Person:

  • Strong knowledge of Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, PDCA problem-solving, 5S, and waste reduction methods.
  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Additional training in Lean Six Sigma or Industrial Engineering -desirable.
  • Strong IT Skills - Microsoft office (PowerPoint, word, excel)
  • Business Focussed.Strong understanding of company priorities with the ability to turn them into actionablesolutions.
  • Team Player.Flexible and collaborative, with a positive "can-do" attitude.
  • Proactive Problem-Solver. Self-motivated to identify issues and implement practical solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills, comfortable working with colleagues across all levels and roles.
  • Effective Communicator. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others confidently.
