Job Profile
The Proposals Engineer is responsible for producing accurate and timely quotations for blower packages, ensuring all technical and commercial queries are addressed. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver exceptional service to a global customer base, maintaining high standards of technical accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Analyse customer enquiries, including data sheets, P&IDs, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, project, and production teams to estimate costs, lead times, and resources.
- Select appropriate materials and systems, advising customers on technical solutions.
- Perform technical calculations for equipment sizing, gas properties, and mechanical stresses.
- Prepare RFQs for suppliers and estimate material and labor costs to determine selling prices.
- Develop technical and commercial proposals, including deviations and clarifications.
- Maintain accurate records of opportunities, bids, and customer interactions.
- Participate in bid clarification meetings, commercial negotiations, and project kick-offs.
- Provide effective handovers to the engineering team for successful projects.
- Support internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to marketing efforts, updating website content and delivering presentations.
Requirements / Skills
Education
- Essential: Degree in engineering, physical sciences, or mathematics.
- Desirable: Degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
Experience and Knowledge
- Essential: Experience in the engineering sector or sales/marketing in a technical environment.
- Desirable: Knowledge of rotating machinery, fluid handling equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with ATEX, API standards, materials compatibility, thermodynamics, and acoustic attenuation is advantageous.
Skills and Attributes
- Commercial awareness with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong numerical ability and proficiency in ICT, particularly MS Excel and MS Project.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and solution-focused with a positive attitude.
