About Us: We are a recruitment agency partnering with a global manufacturing business based in Stonehouse. We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join our dynamic team. Purpose of the Role: The Maintenance Technician will ensure all safety regulations and policies are adhered to, conduct preventative maintenance to a high standard, and provide high levels of equipment availability through continuous improvement. Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise health and safety best practices in all work, ensuring compliance with all H&S standards and regulations.
  • Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of equipment within the site.
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns, communicate effectively with affected parties, and work efficiently to resolve issues.
  • Provide high levels of equipment availability.
  • Support the wider team and manage contractors.
  • Offer on-site support and take responsibility for managing and escalating high-risk situations.
  • Control contractors when required.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory.
  • Provide general production support.
  • Utilise basic IT/IS functions.
  • Maintain electronic documents and databases, recording accurate data on reports.
  • Perform repairs to the building infrastructure.
  • Create check and maintenance lists for new installations.
  • Review, complete, and modify construction plans (Management of Change) for production facilities.
  • Collaborate with leaders and fellow partners to ensure food safety and partner safety.
  • Understand and execute standard operating procedures relevant to the position.
  • Follow all PCP and CCP checks and the reaction plan for food safety, food quality, and customer requirement outages.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements and assist in ensuring proper operation and product quality.

Experience Required:

  • Multi-skilled in both mechanical and electrical (instrumentation) with a mechanical bias.
  • Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance systems.
  • Fault-finding on material handling automated systems.
  • Ability to interpret both mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience with conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters.
  • Maintenance and servicing of production facilities.
  • Experience with sortation, conveyor machinery.
  • Fault-finding on building equipment (HVAC, dock levelers, chillers, and general building maintenance).

Essential Requirements:

  • Apprentice trained.
  • HNC or equivalent.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Welding experience.
  • Mechanical experience.
  • Experience with Siemens PLCs.
  • Knowledge of electro-pneumatics.
  • FMCG experience.
  • Experience working in the food industry.
