Balfour Beatty are looking to appoint a Sub Agent to work on a highways project on the A46 executing a Bridge Slide in the Kenilworth area on a 3-6 month initial contract basis. This will involve closure planning, closure and all relevant finishing works.

The successful Sub Agent will be responsible for leading and controlling a section of the site works, and providing management of a team of Section Engineers. The Sub Agent will ideally have previous possession works experience and be able to work to time critical pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of process of reviewing and checking of deliverable documents

  • Implements systems and processes to support construction of the works in accordance with the specification (eg Materials Approval, NCR, Handover Documentation)

  • Carries out trend analysis of the above and identifies improvement areas for nonconformance and business improvement

  • Carries out Independent Inspections of their own section of works

  • Carries out Site Audits to check works and documentation compliance

  • Produces a section programme in the accepted format / software

  • Tracks and monitors KPI compliance and recommends improvements to systems to maintain team production.

  • Establishes monitors of production, translated to graphical form from the Programme to aid understanding of current status and identification of requirements for intervention.

  • Cross references section programme to stage programme and ensures compatibility

  • Understands and implements technical requirements associated with offshore installation work scope

  • Understands and implements the resolution of construction/delivery issues, drawing on experience and accepted industry best practice

  • Maintains accurate records, including dialogue with external organisations (subcontractors)

  • Manages sub-contractors

  • Understands cost and value

  • Drafts correspondence to sub-contractors, suppliers and Client

Key Skills / Experience

  • Sub Agent experience in structural RC works preferred, would also consider good experience in drainage, highways and earthworks

  • Previous possession works experience and be able to work to time critical pressure.

  • Large scale civils infrastructure project experience

  • Good background in Engineering / Civil Engineering

  • Valid CSCS and SMSTS OR SSSTS qualified

  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately

  • Suggests and implements improvements to systems

  • Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity

  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours given the offshore environment

  • Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility with evidence of wide-ranging independent judgement

  • Excellent team player

  • Strong communication skills with solution orientated approach to issue resolution

  • Demonstrates required behaviours to align to project and team objectives
