As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team.

Role Overview:We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support children with various learning, physical, and emotional needs in the classroom. You will work closely with class teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to ensure that each child receives the support they need to succeed and thrive in their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom.
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored teaching plans, adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Support students in their learning, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Help with personal care needs, as required.
  • Observe and monitor students' progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support students in developing their social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing resources to support learning.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team, including parents and external professionals, to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a special educational needs setting .
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude.
  • A good understanding of SEN and different learning needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, physical disabilities).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs or Childcare (such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) would be an advantage, but not essential.
