Suitable candidates will ideally also have some form of maintenance, fitting or servicing experience, preferably gained in an industrial, production or manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesThis is a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter position, working 12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off (4 Days followed by 4 Nights).Working in a team of motivated Engineers, day shifts are often more reactive, responding to breakdowns and line issues, while the night shifts are often more proactive, undertaking PPM, Continuous Improvement and Project Work.Your role will includePlanned Preventative Maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery.Dealing with machinery breakdowns and problems, so good fault finding, diagnostics and repair skills required.Assisting with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines and replacing worn parts.The production machinery is often large and heavy, so you will be trained how to work safely on the plant to check, repair or replace belts, bearings, motors, gears, pumps, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics etc. Those with mechanical skills within production/manufacturing environments would be ideal.Preferred Skills & ExperienceHave completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Mechanical Engineering qualifications (NVQ or C&G) at Level 3 or higher.Experience with mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing work, ideally within industrial and/or production/manufacturing environments.Have experience with belts, chains, bearings - fitting & aligning, pumps, seals, motors, gears, hydraulics, pneumatics, MIG / Arc welding and fabrication would be desirable - training and support can be given to develop areas where you are inexperienced or need refreshing on.
Good troubleshooting skills & diagnostics experience.
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and/or drive chain fault finding is highly beneficial, as is some Electrical control systems experience.
The ability to think outside the box to solve mechanical challenges & issues.
Must enjoy working as part of a team, delivering PPM, continuous improvement, investigating long term solutions to regular problems.
Able to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the CMMS.
