Management Accountant

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic finance team in Stowmarket during an exciting period of growth! As the Management Accountant you will play a pivotal role in the financial and accounting processes, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. Your role will involve preparing management accounts, overseeing month end accounting process, and analysing financial data to guide the Company towards stability, profitability and growth.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining and developing financial policies in agreement with the Head of Finance.
  • Combine your accounting skills with effective management and clear communication to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Analyse business performance, provide insights to pre-empt issues, and adapt to changes.
  • Support business value improvement by managing and reducing operational and production costs, and implementing effective strategies.
  • Produce financial statements including; Monthly management accounts, profit and loss accounts, budgets, cashflows, variance analysis and commentaries.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and audit support.
  • Ensure reconciliation of control accounts and general ledger entries.
  • Oversee payroll submission to Ensors payroll team.
  • Manage Accounts Assistants and Credit Controller, including daily communication, motivation, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Continuously review accounting practices and processes for efficient and cost effective operations.
  • Involvement in other ad-hoc projects as required to support the Head of Finance.

The Ideal Person:

  • Xero experience desirable but not essential.
  • People management experience of at least 5 years, with a personable and positive attitude.
  • Ability to train and mentor individuals developing their accounts careers.
  • Proven technical ability with a strong commercial acumen.
  • Knowledge of modern management information systems.
  • Invoice discounting experience desirable.
  • Strong IT skills to include Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to organise and manage workload to meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident people manager.
  • Qualified in CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent experience with at least 5 years experience.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5:00. Flexible hours considered for the right candidate, provided availability from Monday to Friday.
