They are now seeking a passionate Kids Work Manager to inspire and guide their kids work ministry. You will strategically lead, grow and oversee all the kids work at the church (aged from birth to school year 5). You will be building connections with families, leading volunteers, creating fun and engaging programmes and writing inspiring content for the various events and activities. You will also enhance the church reputation through kids work in the local community.
Kids Work Manager (Church)

Duties (include but are not limited to):
General
- To develop, along with volunteer leaders, a strategy for Kids and an annual operating plan. The strategy and plan need to address outreach, discipleship and environments.
- Build volunteer teams for regular activities and for events. Recruit, inspire, support and develop volunteer leaders and helpers.
- Actively engage parents and carers (including using social media) and support parents in parenting children for a life of faith.
- To keep the profile of Kids work high within the Adult church, including liaison with the Adults Sundays Planning Team to ensure this.
- To measure key performance indicators to demonstrate on the effectiveness and efficiency of Kids work at the church.
- To be an active member of the Safeguarding team.
Sundays
- For each age group within Kids to deliver a visibly safe, memorable and engaging Kids experience, including to:
- Plan and publish a weekly programme for each age group.
- Curate and make ready for delivery creative, biblical, age-specific teaching material and activities.
- Manage rotas.
- Enable volunteers to turn up and deliver confidently (i.e. "plug and play") by:
- Developing and making available in good time a full programme for each series and each week;
- Pre-loading IT devices for all age groups with all materials required;
- Devising, sourcing, and boxing up materials required (e.g. for crafts) to deliver the programme;
- Proactively solicit, listen to and respond to parents’ and volunteer leaders’ feedback on the material and preparation.
- Ensuring all Kids environments are and feel safe and are vibrant places where kids want to be.
Events
- Liaise and establish links in the community which provide opportunity for kids and their families to connect with the church.
- Liaise with Youth Director regarding inclusion of older kids in residential events as agreed in the annual plan.
- In line with agreed plan, organise, promote and deliver Kids events such as trips and holiday clubs.
- Seek opportunities to engage with local primary schools, e.g. assemblies, school fundraisers, listening to kids reading.
All Leaders:
- To shape and deliver the vision and strategy of the church.
- To develop productive, constructive relationships with other staff and volunteers to ensure clarity and collaboration.
- To prepare an annual budget and re-forecasts as required for your areas of oversight, and to manage within the agreed budget or reforecast.
Person Specification:
- Be passionate and excited about working with Kids in the church and in the community.
- Be familiar with designing and delivering children’s work which prioritises their safety. This includes a practical knowledge of safeguarding legislation and practice.
- Be an effective communicator both with children and adults. Ideally you are confident in front of a crowd and clear and empathetic when communicating with individuals of all ages, and in a variety of different settings, e.g. team meetings, assemblies, group sessions, and one to ones.
- Be organised.
- Be able to build team, inspire and work well with others; be adept at motivating and enthusing volunteers.
- Be able to teach.
- Be empathetic with children including those with additional needs.
- Have experience working successfully with children either as a job and/or a volunteer.
- Have a successful track record of shaping, leading and delivering kids work within an organisation (e.g. a church or a school) and the community (e.g. clubs).
- Have worked with children with additional needs and understand what makes an effective and safe environment for them.
- Experience as a children’s worker, youth worker or childcare worker would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Preferably have a formal qualification relevant to the role.
- Full driving license essential due to the location of the church.
- DBS check will be carried out.
- Be in agreement with the staff Code of Conduct and the church’s Statement of Faith.
- Able to evidence that they are inspired by and committed to the church’s mission to help people find and follow Jesus and its vision to be a church community that unchurched people love to be part of.
- Able to evidence that they embrace the church’s staff team values of openness, ambition, fun, teamwork and wholeheartedness.
