Interim Health and Safety Manager

500 per day plus expenses outside IR35

FMCG or food industry experience essential for this assignment - 4 or 5 days on site.

A senior level role heading up the Health and Safety agenda in an FMCG environment. This needs a subject matter expert to get into the detail and conduct a full gap analysis across the Health and Safety agenda to draw up an effective plan of action. The site needs someone who will be hands-on and involved to drive engagement and get a real understanding across all areas of the business.

This is a complex manufacturing environment with a diverse customer base - traceability is critical as are the high standards of output. There is a real need to review the whole Health and Safety agenda on the site to drive the necessary improvements.

The interim remit will be:

  • Conduct a full gap analysis of Health and Safety from a legal and compliance perspective.
  • Creative an effective prioritised plan of action with timescales.
  • Work with the site teams to improve engagement and involvement in H&S.
  • Demonstrate effective risk profiling and compliance in line with all relevant H&S legislation.
  • Be a strong presence in the factory to understand the detail and build rapport with the factory teams.
  • Implement a full audit schedule.
  • Be the expert, the go to individual on site.
  • Set the agenda for improved behaviours and overall H&S culture and an overall legacy for the future.

About you

Your previous background, education and experience will include:

  • Extensive experience in health and safety in FMCG or food manufacturing
  • NEBOSH qualified
  • Proven ability to drive and deliver safety improvement schedules.
  • Able to engage and influence to all levels.
  • Effective prioritisation around improvement programs and the subsequent scheduling of events.
  • Highly attentive to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously in complex environments
