Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading biomass company to recruit a Multi-Skilled Technician for their Biomass site in Stowmarket, Suffolk.

The Multi-Skilled Technician role comes with starting salary of up to 45,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Site Manager you will be responsible for:
  • Perform necessary mechanical/electrical repairs.
  • Conduct planned maintenance, inspections, testing, and record-keeping to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards related to LTHW, steam, feed water quality, biomass combustion, and Written Scheme Examinations.
  • Manage biomass fuel supply, including receiving deliveries, testing, recording results, and handling fuel using a tele-handler.
  • Ensure optimal operation of mechanical systems through routine inspections, maintenance, and monitoring of metering equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel supply, maintenance, testing, and HSEQ incidents, using online systems for reporting, risk assessments, and auditing.
  • Monitor feed water and emissions quality.
  • Promote and enforce health and safety standards on site, including conducting audits, completing risk assessments, and addressing safety concerns with the Head of Industrial Biomass Operations UK and HSEQ Manager.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the client's engineering and maintenance teams, maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Assist in managing sub-contractors for ongoing operations, maintenance, or capital works.



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-skilled engineering
  • BOAS qualification for Steam Operator level.
  • Safety certificate such as IOSH, Safety Passport or CSCS card.
  • Experience working in a heavy industrial environment, any biomass experience would be hugely beneficial
