About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join our team based in Stratford, London. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of water systems within our client's premises located around East London and the surrounding areas. This role requires a strong understanding of water hygiene regulations and the ability to identify, quote for and implement effective control measures.

Key Responsibilities

* Water Hygiene Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments in accordance with ACOP L8 guidelines, identifying potential hazards and developing appropriate control measures.

* Water Sampling and Testing: Collect water samples from required points within water systems and analyse the test results for microbiological and chemical contaminants.

* Water Treatment and Disinfection: Implement effective water treatment and disinfection programs to control microbial growth and maintain water quality.

* Temperature Monitoring: Regularly monitor the temperature of hot and cold water systems to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent Legionella growth.

* Tank Cleaning and Disinfection: Clean and disinfect cold water storage tanks and other water storage vessels to eliminate biofilm and sediment.

* Pipework Cleaning and Disinfection: Clean and disinfect pipework systems to remove biofilms and scale, improving water flow and reducing the risk of contamination.

* Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) Servicing: Regularly service and calibrate TMVs to ensure safe water temperatures.

* Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all water hygiene activities, including risk assessments, sampling results, and maintenance records.

* Client Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, providing advice and guidance on water hygiene issues.

Qualifications and Experience

* Relevant qualifications in water hygiene or a related field (e.g., City & Guilds Water Hygiene Certificate, Level 2 Plumbing)

* Proven experience in water hygiene engineering, including risk assessments, sampling, and treatment

* Strong understanding of ACOP L8 and other relevant water hygiene regulations

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Valid driving license
