Job Title: Assistant Town Planner

Location: Stratford-upon-Avon
Salary: 25,000 - 28,000 per annum (DOE)
Contract Type: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:30pm)

About the Role

As an Assistant Planner, you will play a key role in supporting a range of planning projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling phone and email enquiries.
  • Preparing Scope of Works and briefing notes for clients.
  • Liaising with case officers, clients, and consultants regarding third-party reports and project updates.
  • Conducting site assessments and evaluating development potential, including planning histories, policy analysis, and material considerations.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications through the planning system.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to expand knowledge of Planning Law and Practice and seeking opportunities to develop within the profession.


What They're Looking For

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • An undergraduate qualification, ideally with planning-related modules (RTPI accredited).
  • At least 12 months' planning experience, preferably in the private sector.
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency in relevant software.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • A collaborative and team-focused mindset.
