Warehouse Supervisor / Team Leader

We are currently working with a well-established and forward-thinking client looking for a Warehouse Supervisor / Team Leader to join one of their sites located just outside Stratford-upon-Avon. This is a pivotal role that requires an experienced supervisor who is accustomed to a fast-paced environment from industries such as Manufacturing, Automotive or FMCG.

This is a critical leadership position who will coordinate the intake and dispatch function ensuring that all stock is correctly unloaded, stored, and dispatched on time in full. The role takes responsibility for ensuring that all customers and operational functions are served in a timely and professional manner, whilst operating a fully traceable stock control system for all intake and dispatch functions utilising the ERP system.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the performance of the Intake, and Dispatch teams team to receive, assess, break down, decant and dispatch all stock and materials
  • Manage a direct report and KPIs with responsibility for the Intake and Dispatch function
  • Support and manage KPIs and training for all staff under your direct and indirect authority
  • Coordinate the team operation using excellent communication techniques, incorporating team meetings, discipline, absence investigation & cooperating with health &safety audits
  • Management of the direct report to include time and attendance, staff registers, holiday, discipline and return to work interviews
  • Liaise with all operational and service departments to ensure that stock is maintained at the correct levels and is available
  • Responsible for the logistical O.T.I.F out load to all of our customers
  • Coordinate the intake and dispatch operation regarding daily out-loading issues
  • Ensure that total stock traceability is maintained throughout the intake and dispatch of all stock using the ERP electronic data capture system
  • Ensuring that load plans, temperature checks, and maximum pallet utilisation is undertaken and paperwork is filed and passed onto the relevant departments
  • Responsible for producing detailed reports highlighting all activity undertaken, costings and labour
  • Ensuring that communication is established and maintained throughout the logistics process and across all shifts and sites
  • Liaise with the Procurement, Stock Control and Production teams to ensure that all arrivals are scheduled correctly
  • Ensuring that all staff act professionally and according to training at all times
  • Ensuring that all staff under your direct and indirect authority operate according to company standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that the forklift fleet is maintained, operated correctly and that any breakdown or damage is recorded and reported
  • Ensuring that all equipment is safe and operational at all times
  • Liaise with 3rd Party hauliers and coordinate daily out-loading issues
  • Responsibility for ensuring the high standards of H&S and hygiene within the area of responsibility

Key Skills

  • Educated to QCF level 2 in an academic or vocational discipline
  • Working towards or have a management or supervisory qualification to QCF Level 3
  • Must have previous experience of working and management within a fast-paced logistics operation in a management coordination role
  • Experience of working in the food industry, supplying retail multiples, and managing teams is essential
  • Highly competent in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Thorough knowledge of the electronic data capture system - Prophet
  • Operate in accordance with the company Health and Safety policy and agreed safety procedures
  • Wear all protective equipment when entering Operational areas as appropriate. Adhere and work within company hygiene and medical requirements and ensure others are also compliant
