This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the transformation of Green Britain Group’s finance function. The group is currently going through a separation process, and the New Ventures Division is seeking a Financial Accountant to be responsible for the overall New Ventures group financial accounting and to be the Forest Green Rovers FC Management Accountant.

You will be a critical member of the team in ensuring that we achieve full financial accounting and tax compliance (in conjunction with the Eco group financial accountants), achieve a fast close, improve management reporting, cash management and business partnering.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Completion of all financial compliance tasks for the New Ventures group (tax, accounting, statutory accounts, ONS, etc)
  • Management Accountant for Forest Green Rovers FC
  • Line management of 2 members of staff
  • Preparation of management accounts for reporting to stakeholders. Managing control processes to ensure accounts are completed including full balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Preparation of monthly P&L variance analysis & commentary for FGR for insertion into the management pack
  • Business partnering the CEO and heads of department at FGR;
  • Managing the audit process for the New Ventures Group (in conjunction with Eco group finance) to ensure it is completed ahead of statutory deadlines;
  • Overseeing the preparation tax information for all NV entities along with producing the required information for FGR;
  • Preparation of annual budgets & rolling forecasts for FGR
  • Support the streamlining of cash flow forecasting and reporting, integrating it with the budgeting process and monthly performance reports. Provide commercial insight into the drivers of cash flow and identify risk and opportunities around them

Essential Skills & Expertise

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA etc) with significant business experience
  • Relevant management & financial accounting experience in month-end close, reporting, and complex reconciliations
  • Interest and understanding of how financial systems interact with each other
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office suite
  • Business process improvement mindset - to drive improvements in processes
