The Assistant Accountant oversees core finance operations, such as payment processing, cash forecasting, and monthly reporting, while supporting audits and accounts payable/receivable functions. This role collaborates with department heads to ensure budget adherence, contributing to financial efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Description

  • Prepare and manage weekly cash forecasts to ensure sufficient cash resources.
  • Oversee weekly payment runs, bank reconciliations, and credit card administration.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, monitoring capital projects and capitalisation's.
  • Conduct month-end reporting, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with department leads on cost centre analysis, addressing variances and making budgetary recommendations.
  • Provide support for accounts payable and receivable, assisting the Finance Assistant as needed.
  • Assist with annual external audits and comply with external reporting requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement within the Finance team and uphold quality, safety, and ESG standards.

Profile

The successful Assistant Accountant should have:

  • Currently studying accounting (CIMA/ACCA) with a strong desire to advance.
  • Skilled in cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Proactive in identifying efficiency improvements and implementing new processes.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Experienced in cash flow forecasting and, ideally, familiar with the manufacturing sector.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively with different departments.
  • Committed to supporting sustainability goals and adhering to quality, safety, and ESG standards.
