Are you an experienced electrical engineer ready to take on some of the UK's largest renewable energy projects?

Do you have the technical expertise and passion to drive renewable energy projects from concept to completion?

Our client, a leading renewable energy company, is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join their Generation Team. This team spearheads the development, design, and installation of renewable energy projects, including solar farms, wind farms, gas plants, and battery storage systems. They also provide technical expertise for an existing 90MW onshore wind fleet.

As an Electrical Project Manager, you'll be responsible for managing generation projects from initial concept to final design and construction. Key tasks include securing grid connections, overseeing feasibility assessments, driving design development, managing tendering processes, and negotiating contracts. You'll also contribute to financial modelling, due diligence, and developing technical specifications for project construction.

You'll engage regularly with DNOs (Distribution Network Operators) and National Grid to ensure compliance with electrical or gas connection agreements, handling complex issues like flexible grid connections, export limited schemes, and private wire arrangements.

In addition, you'll act as a technical interface with ICP (Independent Connection Providers) and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractors, negotiating contracts and setting employer requirements. You'll provide key technical support to the O&M (Operations & Maintenance) team and assist the Smart Grids and Trading teams with grid services and electrical infrastructure.

The Person:

  • Higher education in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, battery storage).
  • Knowledge of electrical infrastructure (transformers, cables, switchgear).
  • Familiar with GB electricity grid, G99/G100 standards, DNOs, and National Grid.
  • Full UK driving license.

The Role:

  • Manage projects from concept to final build, focusing on grid connections, feasibility, and technical specs.
  • Liaise with DNOs, National Grid, ICPs, and EPC contractors for compliance and technical standards.
  • Provide technical support to the O&M and Smart Grids teams.
  • Hybrid working with a mix of on-site and office work.
