Development and Implementation Policies & Procedures:

  • Develop, review, and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with H&S regulations across both sites.
  • Work closely with management to integrate H&S procedures into operational processes and ensure their effective communication and implementation by supervisors and staff.
  • Ensure policies reflect current best practices, legal requirements, and site-specific needs.

Risk Assessments & Safety Documentation:

  • Write, review, and update risk assessments for all operations and activities, ensuring they are thorough and up-to-date.
  • Ensure that method statements, safe working procedures, and other safety documentation are in place and accessible to all relevant staff.
  • Lead H&S assessments related to site regeneration and project work, ensuring safety risks are identified, managed, and mitigated during any site upgrades or new developments.

H&S Culture Development:

  • Promote and develop a positive, proactive health and safety culture across the sites, engaging staff at all levels in safety initiatives.
  • Lead by example, encouraging open communication and feedback from all employees on safety issues.
  • Work with supervisors and management to foster a safety-first mindset and encourage ownership of safety responsibilities across all levels of the workforce.

Training & Induction:

  • Deliver health and safety induction training to new starters, ensuring they are familiar with the company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide essential training programs, including fire warden training, manual handling, and other key safety topics.
  • Ensure that all employees complete mandatory health and safety compliance training and maintain accurate records of training completion.

H&S Compliance & Audits:

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across both Frampton on Severn and Tetbury sites, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure all statutory H&S requirements are met, including the safe handling of dangerous substances, compliance with DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations), and the upkeep of safety systems.

Supporting Site Regeneration Projects:

  • Advise and support the General Manager on all H&S requirements during site regeneration projects or any other significant operational changes or improvements.
  • Ensure that health and safety risks are considered in the planning and execution of site projects, offering practical solutions to mitigate any potential hazards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety reviews for new projects and ensure safe working conditions during the implementation phase.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of all safety incidents and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Track and monitor H&S performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
