Your new company Hays is working with a Stroud-based co-ed mainstream Secondary School, to recruit a passionate Full-Time Teacher of Girls Physical Education (Maternity Cover). The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced Head of Department within a strong PE team. The school was rated 'Good' in all categories by Ofsted and has seen growing numbers in Year 7 for the past 3 years. Your new role

  • To plan, develop and deliver high quality lessons using a variety of approaches, to continually enhance teaching and learning
  • Be available for fixtures outside of school hours (desirable)
  • To monitor student progress, keeping student records that include assessment outcomes and targets set at regular intervals in line with Academy policy, to enable all students to achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people with regard to Every Child Matters agenda and Area Child Protection Procedures.
  • Ensure continuity, progression and cohesiveness in all teaching.
  • Set homework regularly, (in accordance with the Academy homework policy), to consolidate and extend learning and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning.
  • Track student progress, monitoring achievement against targets set, and take appropriate action on student outcomes.
  • Be a role model to students through personal presentation and professional conduct.

What you'll need to succeed

  • QTS or be an ECT
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school
  • A relevant degree to the subject
