Job Title: Tool Room Design Engineer

Salary: up to 47239 DOE

Location: Redditch

Hours: 39 hours per week working 07.30 to 16.30 Monday to Thursday, and 07.30 to 12.30 on Fridays.

Overview:

Working for a large precision engineering group that have sites across the UK, we now require a Tool Room Design Engineer specifically in the design of press tooling. The company manufacture precision engineered components with methods such as sheet metal, fabrication, assembly and machining.

Key responsibilities of the Tool Room Design Engineer.

  • Design and develop press tools for sheet metal components.
  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for tool production.
  • Evaluate and analyse product designs to determine the best tool solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with the manufacturing and quality teams to ensure tool designs meet production capabilities and quality standards.
  • Conduct design modifications and improvements based on production feedback.
  • Lead and support tool trials, troubleshooting, and commissioning of press tools.
  • Ensure tool designs comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on design processes, revisions, and approvals.

The ideal candidate / Tool Room Design Engineer may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:

  • Knowledge of CAM software and CNC machining processes.
  • Familiarity with automotive, aerospace, or other precision-driven industries.
  • Previous experience designing press tools with Solidworks
