Are you an experienced Construction Manager looking to join a leading Tier One contractor? This client is seeking an experienced individual to lead a high-profile highways and structures project. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the leading highways contractor, delivering complex and high-value projects with a focus on quality, safety, and innovation.

The Role

As a Construction Manager, you will play a key role in delivering a major highways project from beginning to end, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated site team and collaborating with key stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients to achieve exceptional project outcomes.

Based in Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration - Foster open communication within the team, subcontractors, and stakeholders, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Project Delivery - Oversee all aspects of construction, ensuring adherence to programme schedules, budgets, and safety regulations.
  • Design Management - Review and coordinate detailed construction feasibility plans, ensuring the project is executed with minimal in-flight changes.
  • Programme & Planning - Contribute to programme updates and support mitigation strategies where necessary. Lead short-term planning in alignment with contract requirements.
  • Commercial & Financial Control - Support subcontract tendering, cost forecasting, and commercial negotiations to optimise project value.
  • Quality & Safety Leadership - Champion a safety-first culture and ensure the highest quality standards are met, aligning with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Environmental Responsibility - Identify opportunities to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable construction methods.

What are they looking for?

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager on major infrastructure projects, ideally with a Tier One contractor.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to drive team performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, construction methodologies, and contract management (ideally NEC4).
  • SMSTS certification and a valid CSCS Manager's Card.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, site digital tools, and document control systems.
