I'm looking for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to join our client in Sudbury. This role will consist of being on the road from 30% - 50% of the time. In order to be considered, you must have experience in writing PLC programmes with either Siemens or Allen Bradley.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute equipment start-ups, technical service calls, and related activities (including reports).
  • Design customer-specific control systems (both pneumatic and electric), including the creation of Bills of Materials and PLC programming. Typical I/O range: 6-13.
  • Conduct equipment and application testing as part of project execution.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support to both customers and in-house engineering/project teams.
  • Support project execution by specifying parts and liaising with suppliers.
  • Communicate with customers regarding their control system requirements.
  • Prepare site visit reports and maintain up-to-date in-house databases.
  • Contribute to proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Basic mechanical skills with a general interest in mechanical systems and problem-solving.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (30%-50% of the time).
  • Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic circuits.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens or Allen Bradley preferred, training provided).
  • Ability to read AutoCAD drawings.
  • Proficient computer skills (AutoCAD and Microsoft Office are advantageous).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical know-how and ability to apply relevant codes to tasks and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently, guided by knowledge of equipment, company policies, and procedures.
  • Capable of initiating activity, managing multiple projects, and meeting targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an energetic and positive personality.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet time-sensitive targets.
  • Strong service orientation and actively seeks ways to assist customers and staff.
  • Full, clean driving license.

Experience & Education:

  • HND / HNC in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree.
  • You must have experience in writing PLC programmes with either Siemens or Allen Bradley
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a technical role, ideally in machinery maintenance.
  • Training will be provided to enhance your skills further.
