Trainee Weaver required for our industry leading Sudbury based manufacturing client. It is not necessary to possess previous weaving experience although this would be ideal but it is more important that you are someone who possess a key eye for detail with the motivation to want to join a long-standing company and develop a career with them. In return for your Trainee Weaver role you will be part of a very passionate team, given a competitive salary and a very clear and structured training plan.

The role

  • Loading designs into the loom
  • Selecting and threading up the correct yarns for the order
  • Responsible for the careful placement of completed orders onto the transport racks
  • Weaving orders with careful checking throughout for weaving, yarn or other faults against a standard
  • Amending and weaving sample orders in such a way as to make them reproducible when woven as production orders
  • Correction of weaving issues as they are identified and the repair of broken threads
  • This is a shift-based role on an annualised hours plan
  • Generally, shifts are 5am-2pm and 2-11.30pm with Fridays being 2-7pm for 21 weeks and 5.30am- 2pm and 2-11pm with Fridays being 2-7pm for 20 weeks but it is seasonal hence the annualised hours plan.

The Person

  • Most possess some experience of working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience in fault identification, diagnosis and problem solving
  • Ideally some experience and/or interest in the textile/fabric industry
  • Happy to lift and move items
  • Ability to read and understand written work instructions to weave fabric to the correct levels of quality and productivity.
  • An eye for detail and colour to achieve a high level of quality
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Aptitude of a good team player, providing positive contributions to production improvements
