Basketball Coach

Job OverviewA local and well estbalished Children's Sports Caoching company Maxim Sports Coaching are seeking a passionate and dedicated Basketball Coach to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a background in Basketball coaching (or play at high level with excellent knowledge) and a commitment to educating Children of varying abilities in the fundamentals of basketball.

The role will be coaching a two weekly clubs initially, on a Thursday evening in Sudbury but there may be more hours available in sports coaching including football, basketball and dodgeball.

This role involves developing players' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive sporting environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement training programmes that enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
• Take weekly registers and speak to parents if necessary
• Conduct regular practice sessions, focusing on individual and team development.
• Educate players on game strategies, rules, and sportsmanship.
• Assess player performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
• Foster a supportive and motivating atmosphere that promotes teamwork and respect among players.
• Organise and lead competitive matches, ensuring all players have the opportunity to participate.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for Children.
• Maintain open communication with players, parents, and other coaching staff regarding player progress and team objectives.

Experience

• Proven experience in sports coaching, particularly in basketball, is essential.
• A sports coaching qualification required or willingness to undertake one at your own cost.
• If you have not coached, but have played at a high level this may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of basketball techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and inspire young Children.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches/assistants and communicate with parents. .
• A background in youth coaching is advantageous but not mandatory.
• A current safegaurding children certficate and first aid would be advantageous
• If sucessful an enhanced DBS will be required
