We are working with a Medium sized Freight Forwarder who are looking to recruit an experienced Freight Business Development Manager.

The role is to develop, maintain and penetrate new business opportunities, our client deals with time-critical delivery solutions. Through national and international prospects and increase market exposure to implement the sales & marketing strategy, including travelling to meet with customers in the UK and Europe.


The role responsibilities:

Manage the new business sales and account development opportunities to successful conclusions, using the customer relationship (CRM) process and ensure there is a robust and continued pipeline of opportunities and update systems accordingly with accurate sales information about the customer win process.

Prepare and respond to customers tender opportunities and actively seek RFQs, working in conjunction with the logistics team to ensure rates are profitable.

Conduct regular meetings and discussions with the logistics team, including following up on leads, collection addresses and failed quotes.

Plan approaches, presentations, and work with the team to develop proposals that match the clients needs and objectives, as well as participating in pricing the solution/service.

Use information available to develop information enquiries, collection of address, previous customers and leads gained at networking events.

Attend industry functions, events, conferences, exhibitions to plan new business moving forward.

Present to and consult with management on business trends with a view to developing new services and distribution channels.

Develop a local sales plan, identify opportunities for campaigns, services and distributions channels that will lead to an increase in sales.

Using knowledge of the market and competitors identify and develop the companys unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Liaise with customer solution team to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers and clearly instruct operational management on solutions agreed with customers to ensure a smooth onboarding process.


Requirements:

Previous business development experience is essential.

3-5 years sales experience. Ideally within freight forwarding.

Used to maintaining a minimum of 10 major prospect opportunities.

Experience of Sales and account management of premium freight services,

Used to bringing in over £500K of new business a year.

Used to travelling in the UK & Europe for client meetings.


Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm with flexibility where needed.

Salary depends on experience, plus bonus and company car allowance.
