Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Estimator to join our dynamic team at an M&E specialist building services subcontractor. As part of our growing business, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical estimates for a wide range of projects, from small works to projects valued up to 3 million. The successful candidate will play a key role in estimating costs, preparing bids, and supporting our project delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for new build, refurbishment, and fit-out projects.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other related documents to accurately determine the scope of work and materials required.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather quotes, identify project requirements, and assess any risks or challenges.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Present clear and comprehensive cost breakdowns to clients and senior management.
  • Manage multiple tenders simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of bids.
  • Provide advice on cost-effective solutions and alternative products or materials when required.
  • Monitor the cost control process during project execution and contribute to achieving profit margins.
  • Attend project meetings, including pre-tender and post-tender reviews, when necessary.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E or building services sector.
  • Experience estimating for a range of project types including new build, refurbishment, and fit-out, with values from small works up to 3 million.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
