A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 3D CAD and freehand drawing skills; FEA and thermal knowledge and with the ability to contribute to all stages of product development, will join a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the renewable energy sector.

Applicants should bring a minimum of a 1st/2.1 Mechanical Engineering Degree, possess several years’ design experience gained within an industrial environment as well as having a good understanding of thermal modelling, stress and fatigue modelling, material degradation / weathering / corrosion.

Experience of testing using environmental chambers or wind tunnels is highly beneficial. The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the conceptual stage of design, research and development involving thermal modelling and FEA modelling; working closely with acoustics, aerodynamics and electronic colleagues to assess the impact of mechanical design on system performance.

Key Skills and Experience will ideally include:

  • Minimum of BSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of 3D CAD technology (SolidWorks ideally).
  • Ability to create freehand drawings and knowledge of 2D drawing conventions.
  • Experience of Mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of Thermal modelling, FEA, Stress and fatigue modelling.
  • Working to stringent environmental and safety standards.
