We are working with a small charity in Sunderland who offer an invaluable service to families across the north east of England. In order to keep their financial affairs in order they are looking to appoint a Part-time Finance Officer to work out of their offices in Sunderland.

Working in a small team in a standalone finance role you will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions and related tasks for the charity:

Through the use of Xero and Dext ensure all office administration and financial tasks are carried out to a high standard and accounts records and maintained accurately

  • Processing and paying all invoices
  • Co-ordinate payment of staff salaries
  • Monitor bank accounts, and coordinate petty cash
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and present to CEO and board
  • Create budgets, review and forecast
  • Provide finance reporting on the income generated by Fundraisers
  • Monitor all restricted grants and unrestricted income and provide information to relevant project staff
  • Year end liaison with the accountants and auditors to prepare the annual accounts
  • Monitor the spending of all Grants and to fulfil any reporting requirements

The vacancy is office based, 20 hours each week which can be tailored to a work pattern suitable to the post holder over 3 to 5 days each week.

The Charity are looking for an experienced Finance Officer, AAT or equivalent qualified who is able to work in a standalone capacity managing the finances and supporting the CEO.

Applicants will have a working knowledge of Xero or equivalent, and have occupied a similar financial role for a minimum of 2 years. Knowledge of Payroll and the voluntary sector would be desirable not not essential. You must be able to multi-task with a positive can-do attitude.
