We require an experienced Local Government Finance professional to support temporary capacity issues on the Co-ordination and Technical Team within Financial Management.
The successful applicant will be CIPFA qualified with Local Government finance experience.
We are specifically looking for experience in any / all of the following areas:
- Accounting for Leases
- Collection Fund Accounting
- VAT Accounting Essential skills:
- Excellent excel skills (e.g. pivot tables)
- Experienced in managing and manipulating data
- Experienced in application of accounting standards
- Confident to work independently (with direction)
- Confident to challenge and suggest improvement to processes Planned activities:
- Supporting implementation of IFRS 16, Leases o Supporting the Principal Accountant (Technical) with implementation of IFRS 16, Leases, for 24/25’s Accounts. o Finance Lease model is already in use and approved by our auditors - main task would be to replicate this model for all appropriate assets and to assist with consolidation of data and preparation of related disclosure notes.
- Supporting Collection Fund Accounting o Supporting Principal Accountant (Co-ordination) with year-end Collection Fund Accounting and associated returns.
- Review of VAT processes o Assisting with review of VAT treatment of the Council’s Fees and Charges.
- Other ad-hoc year end support Expectations to be in the office one or 2 days a week
