Reed Accountancy are working closely with a highly reputable law firm with offices across the Northeast.  Our client is looking to recruit a skilled Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier due to the recent retirement of the Accounts Manager.  This role offers real variety where you can utilise your experience and develop further skills along the way, to become a key part of the finance function.

Located in the Sunderland office, you will work within a close knit and friendly team with a strong support network.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of accounts experience
  • Team player with a proactive, can-do approach
  • Strong attention to detail and urgency
  • Payroll experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain client and office ledgers per SRA rules
  • Handle daily banking, CHAPS transfers, and client transactions
  • Manage deposits, withdrawals, and interest calculations
  • Liaise with clients and solicitors to resolve payment queries
  • Record office transactions, produce cheques, and manage petty cash
  • Process salaries, pensions, and HMRC dealings
  • Prepare bank reconciliation reports
