Quality Engineer

Location: Sunderland

Permanent staff position

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE + benefits

37.5 hours per week

Mon-Thurs 08:30-17:00, Fri 08:30-14:00

We’re looking for a proactive Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards within a manufacturing plant.

What you will be doing:

  • Analyse quality data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor quality performance using SPC and Cpk analysis.
  • Ensure achievement of KPIs and lead problem-solving initiatives (8D, Six Sigma).
  • Conduct process audits and support LPA, 5S, and system audits.
  • Develop and manage quality control documentation (PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
  • Support QMS development and ensure compliance with industry standards.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Proven leadership in quality teams with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in lean methodologies (7W, Six Sigma) and quality systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage at all levels.
  • Knowledge of measurement methods, auditing, and industry standards (IATF:16949).

Qualifications & Experience:

  • HNC or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Automotive sector experience.
  • Training in Six Sigma / problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Minitab and core quality tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP).
