Quality Engineer
Location: Sunderland
Permanent staff position
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE + benefits
37.5 hours per week
Mon-Thurs 08:30-17:00, Fri 08:30-14:00
We’re looking for a proactive Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards within a manufacturing plant.
What you will be doing:
- Analyse quality data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor quality performance using SPC and Cpk analysis.
- Ensure achievement of KPIs and lead problem-solving initiatives (8D, Six Sigma).
- Conduct process audits and support LPA, 5S, and system audits.
- Develop and manage quality control documentation (PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
- Support QMS development and ensure compliance with industry standards.
What you will bring to the team:
- Proven leadership in quality teams with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in lean methodologies (7W, Six Sigma) and quality systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage at all levels.
- Knowledge of measurement methods, auditing, and industry standards (IATF:16949).
Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC or equivalent in Engineering.
- Automotive sector experience.
- Training in Six Sigma / problem-solving methodologies.
- Proficiency in Minitab and core quality tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP).
