Reed Accountancy are working closely with a highly reputable law firm based in Sunderland who are seeking a Legal Cashier to join their finance team. The role involves managing financial accounts within a law firm, ensuring the accuracy of office and client ledgers, and contributing to financial strategy planning. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of financial regulations within the legal industry.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Maintain accurate office and client ledgers, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to match financial records with bank statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Consult with clients, law firms, and businesses on financial matters, providing advice and addressing account-related queries.
  • Scrutinise large financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial strategies for the business or clients.
  • Record all financial transactions meticulously, including income, expenses, payments, and other relevant data.
  • Handle client payments efficiently, ensuring they are processed and recorded accurately.
  • Manage daily banking activities, keeping track of deposits, withdrawals, and other transactions.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the firm’s PAYE scheme, managing employee salaries and taxes.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Familiarity with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Account Rules.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
