HGV Class 1 HIAB Relief DriverTemp- PermSunderland7am-4pm Monday to Friday (typical hours)Pertemps are working on behalf of our client in Sunderland. The role will be transporting modular units and temporary facilities using lorry loader cranes, as well as supporting welfare service operations to ensure consistent and efficient delivery standards. This is a flexible and dynamic driving role that plays a key part in maintaining smooth logistics operations. The position involves stepping in to cover driver absences, such as holidays, training, or other vacancies, across multiple regions. It offers variety and requires adaptability, including the potential for overnight stays and weekend travel depending on the assignment.Duties:
  • Delivering products and services to customers on time and in full, while promptly reporting any issues.
  • Following planned routes and movement instructions accurately.
  • Maximising efficiency during loading and unloading processes.
  • Ensuring all regulations are met when transporting abnormal loads.
  • Operating lorry loader cranes in a variety of conditions and environments.
  • Supporting tanker operations through customer service visits.
  • Conducting daily vehicle and equipment safety checks, and flagging any issues to maintain compliance.
What we're looking for:
  • A valid Class 1 HGV Driving Licence, with up-to-date Driver CPC (DCPC).
  • CPCS and/or ALLMI lorry loader operator qualification / D1+E Unlimited or equivalent – essential.
  • Hook experience – essential.
  • Proven experience operating lorry loader cranes (from 31 tonnes up to 82 tonnes).
  • Experience with wagon and drag combinations and articulated vehicles.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach – this role may involve travel across various locations, nights away from home, and driving a range of vehicle types. Assignments can change at short notice to meet operational demands.
