We are looking for….

The Data Protection Assistant will support the Data Protection Team in ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.

We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses across the community. Whether you're supporting from the office or working on the front line, every role plays a part.

How you’ll support us on our mission to keep people safe and warm…

  • Monitor the data protection mailbox to ensure queries are actioned and triaged appropriately.
  • Assist with the management of data subject access requests (and on occasion, Environmental Information Requests) including data gathering, reviewing, and responding within the required timescales.
  • Help maintain data protection records, including data retention.
  • Assist in responding to data breaches and incidents, including documentation, reporting, and monitoring actions.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of data protection policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Help maintain the Record of Processing Activities ensuring that all processing of personal data is recorded and updated.
  • Help conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and assist in identifying and mitigating potential risks to personal data.
  • Support the team with the development and delivery of data protection training.
  • Provide support and assistance to the wider legal services team, as and when required.

You do not need to have legal experience for this role, strong administrative skills are all that is required. However, knowledge of data protection legislation would be advantageous.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data security.
