The CompanyWe're delighted to be supporting a national business who are going through huge digital transformation with the recruitment of a Senior Data Engineer. The tech team operate a hybrid working model with two days per week expected in their North East office. The RoleYou will lead a team of Data Insight and Reporting Analysts, mentoring and supporting them while expanding their data environment. You will utilise your expertise in cloud technologies to deliver efficient and scalable data models across the organisation. Key responsibilities include: 
  • Data Engineering - Design, build and optimise data models using Azure Data Lakehouse and Databricks to ensure efficiency and speed 
  • Data Technology Roadmap - Enhance and develop the existing data infrastructure to better serve the needs of the business 
  • Collaboration - Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to embed data driven insights into decision making 
  • Innovation - Drive continuous improvement by exploring and adopting the latest cloud technologies 
  • Governance - Ensure compliance with data governance, security and regulatory standards
The RequirementsThis is an exciting role whereby you will have a great chance to help drive a data driven culture across a thriving organisation. Essential requirements include: 
  • Significant experience in data engineering, ideally with experience in data lakehouse architectures 
  • Strong SQL and Python skills
  • Commercial experience using Kimball data modelling and translating business requirements into technical deliverables for the team 
  • Experience with Power BI data modelling and best practise 
  • Proven track record of leading and mentoring teams 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
